Michael Silberhorn shares the story of his first job interview with IH as a trainee in the Peoria, IL district, and the strict dress code that was imposed. He also shares some of his experiences working with the company, including the roll-out of the SPIM (Service Parts Inventory Management) program which encouraged dealers to adopt computerized inventory management on their parts systems, and ProAg, a cutting-edge program that helped farmers adopt computerized farm plans. These stories serve to highlight the innovation at IH and the early adoption of digital systems.
This oral history was shared at the Red Power Roundup in Union Grove, Wisconsin on June 16, 2016. Michael was interviewed by Sally Jacobs, archivist for the International Harvester Collection at the Wisconsin Historical Society.
