91 year old Bill Carter started his IH Dealership in 1952 in Monroe County, Alabama, where he also sold Pontiac automobiles. Joined by his son William in 1974, the Carters kept the dealership going until they retired in 2014.
In this video, William and Bill share stories spanning the 62 year history of the dealership. They discuss how Bill’s childhood during the Great Depression formed many of his business decisions, how in the early days they would trade IH tractors for mules (since many farmers in those days were still using mules to farm their land), and how he was the first in Monroe County to sell a cotton picker.
William and Bill shared their story with us at the 29th National Red Power Round Up in Montgomery, Alabama in June 2018.
